What Features Come Standard with the 2023 Jeep Wrangler?
The Wrangler provides unobstructed access to the outside world with a removable top, removable doors, and a fold-down windshield. In the 2023 model year, most Wranglers come standard with a two-door body, while the Unlimited body is available, offering four doors. The Wrangler’s iconic design continues, with the instantly recognizable upright grille with seven slots and circular headlights. The high and wide stance gives it a commanding presence on the trails and the main roads. The Wrangler comes in five trim levels, with Sport kicking things off. The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sport’s exterior includes 17-inch steel wheels underneath black fender flares, black bumpers, black side mirrors, Dana 44 heavy-duty axles, and underbody skid plates made of high-strength steel. Meanwhile, the interior features a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, drain plugs for easy cleaning, cloth upholstery, a six-speaker sound system, push-button start, and a 4.2-inch digital driver information display between analog gauges.
What do the Higher Wrangler Trim Levels Add?
Up next in the Wrangler lineup is the Willys trim. Inspired by the 1942 Willys Jeep MB, which was created for the U.S. Army during World War II, the Willys trim is one of the most rugged and capable Wranglers. The Willys features knobby 32-inch mud-terrain tires, a limited-slip rear differential, LED lighting, black grille and bumper accents, rock rails, off-roading shock absorbers, and all-weather floor mats. Meanwhile, the Sahara trim is upgraded with body-color fender flares, the Unlimited (four-door) body, a proximity key, alloy wheels, navigation, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, nine-speaker Alpine premium audio, and an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. The Rubicon follows and goes far beyond where other SUVs would turn back with Rock-Trac 4x4, locking front and rear differentials, 33-inch all-terrain tires, electronic sway bar disconnect FOX suspension, rock rails, and more. Lastly, the High Altitude trim tops things off with a full body-color appearance, a hard top, four doors, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED lighting, leather upholstery, and more.
2023 Jeep Wrangler Engine and Drivetrain Options
As standard equipment, the Jeep Wrangler comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine linked to a 6-speed manual transmission powering the Command-Trac part-time 4x4 system. This setup gives drivers 260 lb-ft of torque and 285 horsepower. Meanwhile, a turbocharged 2.0L inline-4 engine is standard for the Sahara and High Altitude trims and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and Selec-Trac full-time 4x4. The turbocharged engine puts out 295 lb-ft of torque along with 270 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid 4xe system is available for the Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude trims. The Wrangler 4xe models come with a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine, two electric motors, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and Selec-Trac 4x4. This PHEV setup generates 470 lb-ft of torque, 375 horsepower, and the gas equivalent of 49 MPG. The EcoDiesel 3.0L V6 is available for the Wrangler lineup, pushing out 480 lb-ft of torque and 260 horsepower through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Last but certainly not least is the Wrangler Rubicon 392, featuring a 392-cubic inch 6.4L HEMI V8, ripping out an exciting 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The HEMI engine links to an 8-speed automatic transmission that can be controlled using steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The last 4x4 system is Rock-Trac part-time 4x4, exclusive to the rugged Rubicon trim.
