As an original Dodge Product Design Office Concept, the Challenger Shakedown is being recreated for the 2023 model year. The Shakedown Special Edition features a matching exterior and interior finished with mean red and black styling and is available on the R/T Scat Pack and R/T Scat Pack Widebody models.

Swinger Special Edition

The Dodge Brand paved the path for American muscle in the 70s with its high-performance Swinger models. As an ode to these beasts, the Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody will have an available retro-themed Swinger Special Edition Appearance Package available for 2023.

2023 Dodge Challenger Engine Options

Drivers in search of exciting power will not be disappointed by the Challenger's potent engine lineup. The engines coincide with the trim level lineup. Beginning the lineup is the 3.6-liter V6 engine inside the SXT and GT trim levels. The V6 engine lays down 303 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. Choosing the R/T trim level gets you the 5.7L HEMI V8 engine, which has become somewhat of a legend. The first V8 engine delivers 375 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Stepping up to the R/T Scat Pack trim gets you an impressive 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The last available engine is under the hood of the SRT Hellcat, Hellcat Redeye, and Hellcat Jailbreak, with three engine output levels. These trims come with a supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8. In the Hellcat, this gives the Challenger 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the Hellcat Redeye offers 797 horsepower, and the Hellcat Jailbreak offers 807 horsepower. Both of these trims offer 707 lb-ft of torque. The SXT, GT, Hellcat Redeye, and Hellcat Jailbreak all come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the R/T, R/T Scat Pack, and Hellcat are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard equipment for all Challenger trim levels, while the SXT and GT trims are available with all-wheel drive.

What Features Are Standard and Available for the 2023 Challenger?

The unique design of the Dodge Challenger has made it the one-of-a-kind muscle car that it has become. While staying true to its heritage, the Challenger continues to stay with the times with a seamless balance of modern features. Outside, the Challenger oozes confidence with a fierce, low, and wide stance. The wide grille spans almost the entire front end with integrated dual headlights on either side. The hood forms a slight overhang over the grille, adding to the aggressive glare. The long hood of the Challenger flows back aerodynamically over the cabin, down the rear windshield, and over the deck lid. Standard exterior features for the 2023 Challenger include Keyless Enter n' Go passive entry, 18-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable side mirrors, LED halo-style daytime running lights, LED brake lights, and more. Stepping behind the wheel, you'll find a 7-inch Uconnect 4 infotainment touchscreen, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, six speakers, and an electronic T-shifter. The mid-level trims add things like 20-inch alloy wheels, a functional hood scoop, a rear lip spoiler, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, electronically-controlled active exhaust, Brembo high-performance brakes, and more. The SRT Hellcat, Hellcat Redeye, and Hellcat Jailbreak add high-performance features like launch control, launch assist, line lock, SRT Power Chiller, Race Cooldown, and more.

What is the Challenger Last Call Lineup?

As we mentioned above, the 2023 model year brings the current form of the Dodge Challenger to an end. To celebrate, the entire Challenger lineup is considered to be the Last Call. However, there are three special Last Call editions to honor the history of the legendary model. The Shakedown was the first Last Call special edition introduced. This was originally introduced at the SEMA show in 2016 as a conceptual design that never made it to production. Now in production, the Shakedown features a black and red stripe, exclusive Shakedown exterior graphics and interior badges, a black Mopar hood pin kit, and a Shaker hood with a Mopar hood scoop. The Shakedown is based on the R/T Scat Pack and is available in Destroyer Grey and Pitch Black. The Swinger was introduced next, with a retro 1970s style. Also based on the R/T Scat Pack, the Swinger comes in two shades of green; either F8 Green or Sublime, and features Gold School gold exterior accents on the badges and wheels. It also features a retro-style 'Swinger' decal on the rear fenders. The last special edition Last Call Challenger is the Black Ghost. Honoring a 1970 Dodge Challenger RT that tore up Detroit's Woodward Avenue and disappeared into the night, earning the name Black Ghost. Based on the SRT Hellcat Redeye trim, the Black Ghost features an all-black exterior with white striping on the rear fenders and decklid and a black gator skin roof.
