Jeep Wrangler vs Ford Bronco

Have you been searching for the vehicle that meets all your off-roading needs? If so, perhaps you have been taking a good look at the iconic Jeep Wrangler and the recently-introduced Ford Bronco. We love a good competition and it is clear both of these models have a lot to offer. To help you determine which off-roading SUV best fits your lifestyle needs, we are breaking down what they both have to offer below. Keep reading to learn more and find out which one we recommend!

2021 Jeep Wrangler Power & Handling

Under the hood of the Wrangler lies one of three engines. The standard engine is Jeep’s beloved 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar that kicks out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The second engine offered is a 270 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces up to 295 lb-ft of torque. The last engine offered for the Wrangler is a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 that pumps out 260 horsepower and 44 lb-ft of torque. Depending on the engine chosen, there are two transmission options offered for the Wrangler. They are a six-speed manual and an eight-speed automatic. For all your off-roading adventures, there are three transfer cases to choose from, two of which are part-time and one full-time which is offered exclusively for the Rubicon model.

2021 Ford Bronco Power & Handling

Ford powers the Bronco with just two engines and sadly neither of them is a diesel. The standard engine for this model is a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder that produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The other engine offered to power the Bronco is a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder that generates 310 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. There are also two transmission options for the Bronco. They include a seven-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic. When it comes to transfer cases, Ford slacks again, offering just two options.

2021 Jeep Wrangler Features & Design

The Wrangler is a Jeep at its core, loaded with all the latest features from modern comfort to off-roading gear. The base model is called the Sport and it comes with all kinds of standard features including a fold-down windshield, cruise control, a convertible top, tow hooks, removable doors, skid plates, and a driver’s seat that is height-adjustable. There are also a ton of standard tech features like a 5” touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, an eight-speaker sound system, and a rearview camera. The upper trim levels offered build on the Sport with more features like hardtop options, power-adjustable heated mirrors, all-terrain tires, rock rails, an electronically disconnecting front stabilizer bar, automatic headlights, a larger touchscreen, smartphone integration, hill descent control, and more.

2021 Ford Bronco Features & Design

There are a lot of Bronco trim levels to choose from, seven to be specific, but they are pretty bare when it comes to features. The base trim comes with removable doors, daytime running lamps, carpet flooring (which is not a great choice for those who love to hit the muddy trails with the doors off), a center floor console, and an 8” touchscreen. The upper trim levels add aluminum wheels, a premium sound system, remote engine start, skid plates, multiple grille options, and unique graphics. Overall, most of the Bronco’s best features are tucked away in packages that can be pretty expensive to opt for.

Conclusion:

Now that you have learned more about what both of these models have to offer, you know who the winner is! The Ford Bronco put up a good fight but we are just not that impressed overall. The Jeep Wrangler has so much more to offer from real open-air freedom to engine power and capabilities with three outstanding transfer case options. Not to mention the crazy amount of features found throughout the trim levels. Come on down to Columbiana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram today to learn more about the Wrangler and take a test drive!
