7,500 miles

At the 7,500 mile mark, it is recommended that you get an oil and filter change and a tire rotation. Going forward, owners should repeat these two services approximately every 7,500 miles. However, how often you get an oil change depends on numerous factors. The most prominent factors are vehicle usage and driving habits. If you use your Compass for everyday driving, getting your oil changed every 7,500 miles is perfect. However, if you’re consistently driving at highway speeds or use your Compass for off-roading, you should consider getting an oil change closer to 5,000 or 6,000 miles. The engine air filter, brakes, engine cooling system, and exhaust system should be checked to ensure proper functioning with every oil change. At 15,000 miles or your second oil change, your ball joints should be lubricated as well. Again, oil changes and tire rotations should be performed 7,500 miles moving forward.

30,000 miles

In addition to the regular oil change and tire rotation, a few more services are recommended at 30,000 miles. 30,000 miles is when the fluid in your driveline systems could begin to break down. Therefore, it’s essential to check the transmission, transfer case, and differential fluids and perform a flush and replace service if necessary. Additionally, the engine air filter should be replaced, and the spark plugs should be inspected and replaced if necessary. Some things to inspect at this mileage marker are the suspension and braking systems. This should include the entire steering and suspension assembly, the brake pads, rotors, calipers, and brake fluid lines. If you drive in stop-and-go traffic a lot, your brakes might need replacing at this service or the next. However, the brakes on vehicles used mainly on the highway will typically last longer.

45,000 miles

Between 30,000 and 45,000 miles, you should have gotten at least two oil changes. At the 45,000 mile mark, you should have the ball joints lubricated again and also perform a cooling system flush to prevent engine corrosion and overheating as the coolant can break down and lose its protective properties. If the spark plugs weren’t replaced at 30,000 miles, they should be replaced at 45,000. This, of course, is in addition to an oil change and tire rotation.

60,000 miles

At 60,000 miles, you should have the 30,000-mile services performed again. This includes an air filter replacement and transmission, transfer case, and differential fluid flushes. The spark plugs should also be replaced if necessary. Additionally, the ignition cables (spark plug wires) should be replaced at this time. Finally, at 60,000 miles, the brake pads and rotors should be replaced if they haven’t already been replaced.

100,000 miles

By the time you hit the 100,000-mile mark, you should be an expert on your Compass’s maintenance schedule and know what your car needs when you need it. If you’re still driving your Compass every day after 100,000 miles, you should consider getting oil changes slightly more frequently. Between 6,000 and the normal 7,500 is recommended for higher-mileage Jeeps.
