Our service center treats your tires with the utmost care so that you can embark on new adventures no matter the terrain, read on to learn more about your tires and rotating them is so important!

Could you explain what a tire rotation is?

A tire rotation is a pattern that mechanics follow to make sure that all four of your tires are wearing as evenly as possible so they last as long as possible. Mechanics have a number of different tire rotations to choose from, and they will choose the one that works best for your vehicle depending on the drivetrain configurations. The most common tire rotation pattern has the tires cross the vehicle’s free-rolling axle. A front-wheel-drive vehicle’s rotation swaps the front and rear tires and the new rear tires swap sides as well. A rear-wheel-drive vehicle’s rotation is the opposite of the front-wheel-drive rotation. All-wheel drive and four-wheel drive vehicles follow a pattern called the “double x” which swaps the left rear with the front right and the right rear with the front left.

Why is rotating my tires so important?

Under the guidance of your service advisor and mechanic, keeping up with routine tire rotations is incredibly important to not only the life span of your tires but also your safety. If you skip rotating your tires, they can start to wear unevenly, causing them to become unbalanced and impact your braking speed, which compromises your safety and even the safety of those in vehicles around you on the road. Investing in the care of your tires with regular rotations and proper inflation ensures that your vehicle can deliver the performance and safety that you require.

How often should I have my tires rotated?

Your vehicle’s owner’s manual is a great place to start but your service advisor here at Columbiana can also instruct you on when your tires need to be rotated. Generally, your tires need to need to be rotated every six months or roughly 6,000 to 8,000 miles to ensure even wear and tear.
