The city of Butler is located in and serves as the county seat of Butler County, Pennsylvania. Roughly 35 miles north of the bustling city of Pittsburgh, Butler is considered part of the Greater Pittsburgh Region. In May of 2012, Butler was named the 7th best small town in all of America by the Smithsonian magazine. The name Butler comes from Major General Richard Butler who served during the Battle of the Wabash in the western part of Ohio in 1791. Butler hosts quite a few events throughout the year including the Butler Road Race every June which raises money for local student in scholarships, the Big Butler Fair held each year over the Fourth of July, the Butler Fall Festival held each September, and the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival -- the largest Jeep Festival in the entire country! This festival features the original Jeep Invasion street party, a Jeep playground obstacle course, and off-roading trails!
