About Poland Ohio

The village of Poland is located just roughly seven miles from the southeast Youngstown in Mahoning County, Ohio. The township of Poland was founded by Jonathon Fowler a man who fell in love with a river, the Yellow Creek, which flows through the area. Near the river, Fowler owned an inn and it still stands today as Poland's oldest building. The village of Poland was officially founded, years later, in 1802. Public school students are served by the Poland Local School District which operates two elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. There is just one notable resident from Poland, James Traficant, a United States Congressman. During his time in office, he lived in Poland.
