2022 Jeep Compass Power & Handling
The 2022 Jeep Compass is propelled by a Tigershark 2.4L I-4 engine. The Tigershark engine supplies 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. The Compass’s front wheels are powered by a six-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. However, the Latitude LUX, Limited, Trailhawk, and High Altitude trim all come standard with a 9-speed automatic transmission that powers Jeep’s renowned Active Drive 4x4 system. Active Drive operates as a normal front-wheel-drive system while on even, dry road surfaces. When the system detects inclement road conditions, the rear wheels will automatically engage to provide four-wheel drive traction. Drivers can control Active Drive with the Selec-Terrain system by choosing Auto, Snow, Sport, or Sand/Mud mode.

Under the hood of the 2022 Kia Seltos, you’ll find a 2.0L I-4 engine that provides drivers with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, both numbers significantly smaller than the Compass’s engine. However, customers can choose the optional turbocharged 1.6L I-4 engine that competes better with the Compass, offering 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The entry-level S trim comes with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is standard on all other trim levels. While the compass shifts into and out of four-wheel drive depending on road conditions, the Seltos drives all four wheels at all times.

Outside, the 2022 Compass’s front and rear fascias have been upgraded to be more bold and modern while still holding Jeep’s heritage close. Standard exterior features include 16-inch alloy wheels, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, and LED headlights. The interior upgrades include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button ignition, an 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, a reconfigured center stack, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Other standard Compass features include a full suite of advanced driver aids, cordless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and premium cloth upholstery. All of this is standard even at the entry-level. However, stepping up to higher trim levels gets you heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, remote start, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and much more.

In its second model year, not much has changed for the Kia Seltos’s design. The honeycomb grille is flanked by narrow headlight housings with halogen projector bulbs and metal-look cladding extends from under the front bumper. The Seltos also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, and power-adjustable side mirrors. Upon entering the Seltos, you’ll find keyless ignition, corded Apple/Android smartphone integration, six speakers, and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen. The higher Seltos trim levels compete better with the Compass, adding a wireless charging pad, heated front seats, LED exterior lighting, a sunroof, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and leatherette upholstery;
