Engines are the heart and soul of American muscle cars. Standard equipment for the SXT and GT trim levels is a 3.6L V6 engine that pumps out 303 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive comes standard. However, all-wheel drive is available for these two trims. Stepping up to the R/T trim gets you a 375 horsepower, 410 lb-ft of torque 5.7L HEMI V8. However, if you opt for the R/T Scat Pack, you’ll get a 392 cubic-inch 6.4L V8 that pumps out 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The Challenger lineup comes with three SRT trim levels, Hellcat, Hellcat Redeye, and Super Stock. All three models come with a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine. The Hellcat offers 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque, while the Hellcat Redeye pumps it up to 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. Lastly, the Super Stock rips out an enthralling 807 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. If you prefer to have more control, the R/T, Scat Pack, and Hellcat all come equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the 8-speed automatic is available. The SXT, GT, Hellcat Redeye, and Super Stock come standard with the 8-speed automatic transmission. 

The Dodge Challenger is eligible for many performance-enhancing features. First, the Scat Pack, Hellcat, and Hellcat Redeye are eligible for the Widebody Package. This optional package widens the Challenger by 3.5 inches to accommodate larger tires and enhance the aggressive look. All V8 Challenger models come equipped with Active Exhaust. The Active Exhaust system adds a pair of electronic valves towards the rear of the vehicle to control the exhaust sound. The valve will be closed at idle or at low speeds to lower exhaust noise. The Line Lock feature allows for burnouts by locking the front wheels and allowing the rear wheels to spin freely. Meanwhile, launch control helps drivers achieve the fastest launch time. Standard on the R/T, Scat Pack, Hellcat, Hellcat Redeye, and Super Stock, the SRT drive modes allow drivers to choose Custom, Auto, Valet, Track, or Sport mode. Lastly, the SRT performance pages show drivers real-time engine output readings, 0-60 times, and more.

Even at the base-level SXT trim, the Challenger embodies the American muscle spirit with its traditional low and wide stance and intimidating road presence. The Challenger SXT trim has a wide array of standard features that includes houndstooth cloth upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a leather-wrapped strap steering wheel, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, sport-tuned suspension, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Scat Pack trim adds Brembo performance brakes, line lock, launch control, electronically-controlled active exhaust to enhance the V8’s growl, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen with SRT performance pages. The SRT models are designed strictly for performance with cold air intake, power chiller, race cooldown, launch control, Bilstein adaptive damping suspension, a flat-bottom steering wheel, headlight-integrated air intakes, and other performance-enhancing features.
