2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Announced

With the introduction of the EcoDiesel engine, the 2020 Ram 1500 will be the most-powerful half-ton diesel pickup truck on the market! This engine is capable of delivering the highest diesel torque and the highest available diesel towing in the half-ton pickup truck segment. Along with this engine, the 2020 Ram 1500 boasts a class-exclusive air suspension for enhanced fuel economy, enahnced off-roading capability and ride control, and automatic load leveling. The EcoDiesel Engine

Ram will be housing the third-generation of the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine underneath the hood of the 2020 1500 models and it is simply fantastic! This engine boasts both increased torque and horsepower output as well as great fuel economy and reduced NVH or noise, vibration, and harshness. Torque has been increased by 14 percent to a best-in-class 480 pound-feet and horsepower has been increased by 8 percent to 260 hp. Plus, towing is a breeze thanks to the 12,560 pounds capacity! The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine will be available in every Ram 1500 model and configuration including the Rebel trim level for the very first time!

Significant Engine Changes

To enhance the EcoDiesel engine for the 2020 model year, Ram made some serious changes! These changes include a dual vacuum pump system that used a new mechanical low-friction pump and electric power for overall efficiency, lightweight aluminum alloy pistons that have been completely redesigned for the optimized and redesigned combustion chamber, and the compression ratio has been optimized from 16.5:1 to 16.0:1. Other changes include a new exhaust gas circulation system that features a dual loop system, redesigned cylinder head intake ports, and a new-generation water-cooled turbocharger.
