If you're interested in finding out which model outperforms the other, we recommend you continue reading down below.

2020 Jeep Cherokee Power & Handling

Jeep offers three different engine options that can be paired with any model in the Cherokee's lineup. The standard engine is a 2.4L Tigershark MultiAir 2 engine that uses a flow-control valve intake manifold and a dual variable valve timing. The standard engine pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission and can make up to 31 mpg on the highway. The other available engine includes the 3.2L Pentastar V6 with engine stop/start technology and a 2.0L Turbo Engine that makes 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, the Cherokee can tow up to 4,500 pounds. You can pair any of these engines with Jeep's highly capable 4x4 system.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Power & Handling

While the are six trim levels for the RAV4, there is only one engine option. Under the hood of each RAV4, you'll find a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Adventure and TRD Off-Road come standard with all-wheel-drive, while all other trims come standard with front-wheel-drive. Most RAV4 models can only handle towing up to 1,500 pounds, but the TRD Off-Road can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

2020 Jeep Cherokee Features & Design

The model lineup for the Cherokee ranges from luxurious to off-road eccentric. The Latitude comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, LED headlights, a backup camera, and more. The Latitude Plus comes packed with rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and more! On the Limited, you'll find an 8.4-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and leather upholstery. Heated rear seats, navigation, ventilated front seats, and sound-deadening windshield all come on the Overland. The off-road Trailhawk comes fully loaded with all-terrain tires, off-road suspension tuning, hill ascent & descent control, ACtive Drive II with Active Drive Lock, and a locking rear differential.

2020 Toyota RAV4 Features & Design

The LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited make up the six different trim levels of the 2020 Toyota RAV4. All models build off of the RAV4 LE's features list. That list includes LED headlights, a six-speaker sound system, a 7-inch touchscreen, and a USB port. The XLE adds few features such as keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, and push-button start. The XLE Premium adds simulated leather and a power liftgate. On the Adventure and TRD Off-Road, you'll find off-road features such as hill descent control, all-terrain tires, and an off-road suspension. The top tier Limited drops the off-road features and adds heated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, and a JBL sound system.

Conclusion:

The 2020 Toyota RAV4 puts up a pretty decent fight, but it can't win against the 2020 Jeep Cherokee. While you can opt for features such as heated rear seats and ventilated front seats by purchasing packages for the RAV4, the Cherokee offers all those in its Overland model. The Cherokee also only needs one trim level to deliver all the off-road features you're looking for. In contrast, the RAV4 needs two models.
